MR. RICHARD NOLLEN: A GLOBAL “ENTREPRE-NURSE”

Hello peeps!

I would like to thank everyone who took time to read my blogs featuring GLOBAL INNOVATIVE.  I can see that you loved the last blog about GLOBAL’S PRIDE and obviously, you agreed with the things I wrote there. Thanks to all who LIKED and gave their comments. However, it would be great if you could also take time reading the earlier blogs which speaks about the many INNOVATIONS at GCIC. This time, allow me to share with you good news about one of the many successful alumni that we have. We also take pride on the accomplishments of our alumni who are now excelling in their respective fields. Some of them may not be practicing their professions, but they are now making names in their chosen endeavors. One of them is an “entrepre-nurse” named MR. RICHARD “YANI” NOLLEN.  He graduated as a nurse but he is now a successful business entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Richard graduated Cum Laude in 2011 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  This very personable guy would normally grab every opportunity to chat with his school mates during his stay at GLOBAL INNOVATIVE thus, a lot of students from across programs know him. During his stay at GCIC, he was also elected as President of the GLOBAL NURSING STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (GNSA) and he has been a very active fellow with a great ability to balance academic and extra curricular requirements.

“Yani”,  as what his close friends call him, is also the current Executive Director of Exempli Gratia Foundation, Inc., an independent foundation which aims to help, feed, educate, and better the lives of less fortunate kids. Recently, the Foundation received a grant worth $10,000 from IBM. This Foundation schedules regular outreach programs on different areas all over the Philippines. A good number of GLOBAL INNOVATIVE students and alumni are active members of this organization.

As Richard performs his social responsibility, he is also a successful businessman. He is the guy behind BODATO BURGERS. He started this business late part of last year with its first branch in Makati and just recently, he opened his latest branch in Market Market (food court). Soon, he plans to open more branches particularly at Robinson’s Mall and SM Mall of Asia.

As a nurse, Richard uses his professional background in re-introducing a healthier option to enjoy burgers “without the guilt”.  Also, on top of this business venture, he wanted to hire students who stopped schooling due to financial difficulties as staff in his burger chains so they can save money to pursue their studies later on.  Obviously, his philanthropic principle is still on top of his head as he runs his business.

Richard gives credit to his Alma mater for giving him all the opportunities to grow professionally, socially and emotionally which helped him to become who he is now.  Until this moment, he continues to visit the school and offers his help to the college and his schoolmates in any way he can. He just took the Nursing Licensure Examination in December and we hope that he did it with flying colors!

Richard is an epitome of a true Globalian- Innovative Professional Leader!
