GLOBAL INNOVATIVE takes pride to former Ms. GLOBAL 2010 First Runner Up Ms. Alyanna Aranez.

Alyanna is currently a third year Nursing student of GCIC. I met her first when she joined the Lakambini ng Wika Beauty Pageant when she was first year where I saw her beauty and talent in dancing. On her second year, she joined Ms. GCIC where she bagged the First Runner Up title.

Following this experience, she started modelling for GLOBAL’s ads and marketing materials. She was also invited to model for a prominent salon in the metro and appeared in several magazine ads and fashion shows.

At the campus, though she is one of the popular students, Alyanna is very simple, down to earth and very friendly who will always throw you a smile. She is not just a plain beauty but she’s also a brain who speaks her mind and knows how to balance all these modeling activities and her academic performance.

To Yanna, continue making GCIC proud. Congratulations!

E LEADER CONFERENCE 2012 - MANILA

The conference was held at the Juan Carlos Amphitheater which started through a Welcome Remarks from the President of Global Innovative, Engr. Michael Tan. He emphasized why GCIC is the perfect venue for this year’s gathering. The President extended a warm welcome to all the contingents and introduced the Academic Team members of Global Innovative. Engr. Tan also welcomed and encouraged all possibilities for future collaboration and partnerships between and among the delegates.

The E Leader Conference is an annual gathering of Academic and Entrepreneurial Institutions around the globe and served as a venue for face-to-face meeting of minds on certain issues between academicians, corporate leaders and entrepreneurs. Since 2006, the annual conference is being scheduled from around 32 countries in Asia and Europe. The first was held in Slovakia and the last one before Manila was held in Croatia.

Several Global Innovative students were given the opportunity to participate in the 3-day conference to observe and learn from the speakers. Global Innovative Tourism Students were also lucky to be assigned as ushers and tour guides for the foreign delegates around the entire Bonifacio Global City which capped the event.

GLOBAL INNOVATIVE sees this successful activity as a great opportunity for the current and future students of GCIC which will open more doors for possible future International partnerships & immersion programs, study tours, exchange programs, international affiliations.

Indeed, there are brighter and bigger things that will happen at GCIC this year!

I would like to thank everyone who took time to read my blogs featuring GLOBAL INNOVATIVE.  I can see that you loved the last blog about GLOBAL’S PRIDE and obviously, you agreed with the things I wrote there. Thanks to all who LIKED and gave their comments. However, it would be great if you could also take time reading the earlier blogs which speaks about the many INNOVATIONS at GCIC. This time, allow me to share with you good news about one of the many successful alumni that we have. We also take pride on the accomplishments of our alumni who are now excelling in their respective fields. Some of them may not be practicing their professions, but they are now making names in their chosen endeavors. One of them is an “entrepre-nurse” named MR. RICHARD “YANI” NOLLEN.  He graduated as a nurse but he is now a successful business entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Richard graduated Cum Laude in 2011 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  This very personable guy would normally grab every opportunity to chat with his school mates during his stay at GLOBAL INNOVATIVE thus, a lot of students from across programs know him. During his stay at GCIC, he was also elected as President of the GLOBAL NURSING STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (GNSA) and he has been a very active fellow with a great ability to balance academic and extra curricular requirements.

“Yani”,  as what his close friends call him, is also the current Executive Director of Exempli Gratia Foundation, Inc., an independent foundation which aims to help, feed, educate, and better the lives of less fortunate kids. Recently, the Foundation received a grant worth $10,000 from IBM. This Foundation schedules regular outreach programs on different areas all over the Philippines. A good number of GLOBAL INNOVATIVE students and alumni are active members of this organization.

As Richard performs his social responsibility, he is also a successful businessman. He is the guy behind BODATO BURGERS. He started this business late part of last year with its first branch in Makati and just recently, he opened his latest branch in Market Market (food court). Soon, he plans to open more branches particularly at Robinson’s Mall and SM Mall of Asia.

Give yourself a treat by eating this mouth-watering burger enriched with the nutrients that you can only find in protein-rich buns, nourishing beef patty, fiber-rich lettuce, cucumber and tomato, complemented by real mayonnaise and Heinz tomato ketchup for that wonderful taste. BURGER BENEFIT: Our beef patties are made from 100% pure beef from Monterey where it is loaded with B vitamins, iron, protein and zinc!

As a nurse, Richard uses his professional background in re-introducing a healthier option to enjoy burgers “without the guilt”.  Also, on top of this business venture, he wanted to hire students who stopped schooling due to financial difficulties as staff in his burger chains so they can save money to pursue their studies later on.  Obviously, his philanthropic principle is still on top of his head as he runs his business.

Richard gives credit to his Alma mater for giving him all the opportunities to grow professionally, socially and emotionally which helped him to become who he is now.  Until this moment, he continues to visit the school and offers his help to the college and his schoolmates in any way he can. He just took the Nursing Licensure Examination in December and we hope that he did it with flying colors!

Richard is an epitome of a true Globalian- Innovative Professional Leader!

GLOBAL INNOVATIVE respects students’ individuality and self expression. The campus environment is so receptive to the diverse culture and interests of every individual enrolled in the college. They are further supported by the varied student organizations formed to address individual needs of students. This setting has motivated students to excel in their respective fields of interests and to be true to who they really are. GCIC is proud to have MS. BEA CANDAZA, a Junior Education student majoring in English at the School of Education of Global Innovative. This very sweet gal has been featured in the recent GMA 7′s Festival of Christmas Short Films with actor Dominic Roco (son of the actor Bembol Roco) titled “BIG BOY”.

She has also appeared in several TV and print ads including VOICE Overload, The Travel Club, AVON and has modeled for many fashion designers in the country. Despite her stature, she remained humble, charming and friendly-words used by her many friends in the campus to describe her.

Another pride of GLOBAL INNOVATIVE is MS. FRENCHELLE ARL QUEZON, a Nursing student, and is a known KPOP Music Fanatic.

She has won the POPULARITY AWARD after getting the highest number of LIKES from her Youtube Video entry for the 2011 PINOY KPOP STAR held in October last year at the Korean Cultural Center in Taguig.

She is a typical charming girl in the campus who will normally be surrounded by her gal mates talking about their KPOP idols. Very few people in the college knew that she has a wonderful voice until she posted her video on YOUTUBE. Then, a star is born.

With the invasion of KPOP Culture in the Philippines, one male student of GLOBAL INNOVATIVE has recently just brought pride to the school because of his great interest to KPOP. Another Globalian pride is MR. DONDIE MARTIN from the School of Nursing.

Dondie is just a simple guy in the campus who will always flash a smile as you see him around. You would not even notice that he is known to the many KPOP fanatics because of his laid back personality. Last December 30, 2011, he bagged the title for the KPOP Convention 3 KPOP Look-a-Like Contest. The KPOP Convention is said to be the biggest and the official KPOP Body in the country.

They are just some of the many jewels of GLOBAL INNOVATIVE. They can be claimed as GCIC’s “home-grown” talents!

In 2002, GLOBAL INNOVATIVE was born which makes it a 10 year-old school. Relatively, GCIC is still very young. Despite its age, it is undeniable that it has initiated several innovative programs to be able to provide nothing else but the quality education among its students. While it is easier to define INNOVATION in the light of creativity, GLOBAL INNOVATIVE believes that INNOVATIVENESS is more than being creative.  For GCIC, INNOVATION is rather an action word instead of a noun. It is a way of life as one attempts to introduce change that creates a new dimension of performance. It is the way how everyone behind GCIC talks, thinks and acts.

Allow me to enumerate several INNOVATIONS which I can confidently credit to GLOBAL INNOVATIVE. These distinct uniqueness which can be qualified RATED P.G. (Rated Purely Globalian) which clearly manifests a different dimension of performance.

THE 5 STUDENT HOUSES – GLOBAL INNOVATIVE students, faculty and staff are grouped according to their student and employee numbers. The clustering is named after 5 ancient Greek gods and goddesses – Apollo (Sun), Hephaestus (Fire), Gaia (Earth), Aeolus (Wind), Poseidon (Water). This grouping serves as an avenue where competitions, trainings and other activities are being conducted. These Houses serve as students brotherhood-groups headed and coached by an appointed Chancellor. This will remind you of Hogwart’s clustering group in the film Harry Potter.

THE LIFE SUBJECTS – most  colleges and universities will require students to take specific Institutional Subjects. GLOBAL INNOVATIVE offers LIFE  (Leadership, Innovation, Fellowship, Excellence) subjects is based on the college’s core values. Altogether, there are 4 LIFE subjects (LIFE 101-104) which should be completed within 4 years of students’ stay in the college. The LIFE subjects help students to discover their inner selves, to set their goals, to understand their roles in the society, to appreciate their personal fortunate circumstances from those who are less fortunate, prepare their professional portfolio, and understand the harsh realities of life after college and be able to better face challenges that will come along their way. LIFE subjects implement a non-traditional workshop type of delivery filled with creative and interactive activities.

THE G.MAGAZINE – traditionally, most schools would have a school organ in a form of a 4 – 8 page news letter which looks like a news paper. GLOBAL INNOVATIVE does this differently by coming up with a proper magazine. The organization behind this discovers and uses talents of students to create a printed output which highlights accomplishments, features personalities, and promotes exciting student-life in GCIC. Copies of this magazine are distributed for free among all the students and corporate partners.

OUT-OF-THE-BOX STUDENT ACTIVITIES – GLOBAL INNOVATIVE always makes sure to come up with non-traditional activities for all which are professionally executed. Inter-house Assemblies, Acquaintance Parties, non-traditional Graduation Program, amazing production and stage designs, prestigious pageants, community parades and others are just few in the list which are far innovative and spectacular compared to how other schools do theirs.

RESPECT FOR STUDENTS’ MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE & LEARNING STYLES – the college believes that there are no poor students, only poor teachers who do not deliver the best education that students deserve. GLOBAL INNOVATIVE believes that students learn differently and they have their individual learning styles depending on their personalities. To address these, the college requires all faculty to undergo a series of trainings and workshops on Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles. They are trained to come up with diverse teaching methodologies and approaches which will make every class an exciting environment, interactive and dynamic setting conducive to learning. Teachers are encouraged to be EDUTAINERS using non-traditional, innovative, interactive and creative teaching techniques. This Faculty Development Program is being supervised by Philippines’ Multiple Intelligence advocate and guru – Prof. Henry Tenedero who is now an in-house consultant of GCIC.

LEARNING TO THINK WELL THROUGH MIND MAPPING – Globalians are taught how to think well using mind mapping. In partnership with trained and certified Mind Mappers from Singapore, students are given best practices and are trained on how to make use of mind mapping as they unravel their thoughts, brainstorm, conceptualize, review, analyze, plan, present concepts, take notes and others.

INTERNATIONAL IMMERSION PROGRAMS – GLOBAL INNOVATIVE also believes that International exposure is a great venue for students to experience a different environment as they apply the many things they learn from the classrooms. Students are sent abroad for International Immersion Programs or Study Tours. Business Students were sent to the US and Singapore, Education Students to Taiwan  and Hospitality Management Students to China. As they come back, it has been observed that students have become more cautious in the way they view their future professions manifesting a more mature personality.

THE CITY CAMPUS – GLOBAL INNOVATIVE does not confine itself inside its centralized air-conditioned building. Beyond the walls of the classrooms is a city of partnership and opportunities for student training, learning and possible employment. The college was able to establish a closer relationship with the Estate Management which paves way for a number of partnered activities around the area. Students hold their practicum and OJT on the best establishments and corporations around BGC. Consequently, many of them are also employed by companies around the vicinity.

PARENTING CARAVAN – GLOBAL INNOVATIVE also believes on the integral part and role of parents in the achievement of students’ maximum potentials. The support from home emanating from parents provides the best ingredient in the emotional, spiritual, personal and even physical growth of every individual. GCIC has introduced a unique Parenting Program which has become very popular among several high schools, religious organizations and community groups around the area.

Also, on top of these, the plan to formalize the CENTER FOR INNOVATION is already in the pipeline.

These are just some of the many  innovations I can qualify as  GCIC’s INNOVATIONS which should make us all feel proud. So, fellow Globalians, take pride of your dear Alma Mater and spread the good news. Invite your friends and relatives to join us next School Year.

At this day and age, communication seems to be an endless possibility and opportunity. Topped with the advancement in technology which gives us all the latest gadgets and devices for communication, self expression has become inevitable. How many times does an average person hit the world wide web in one day? Once? Twice? Thrice? At any given opportunity? Perhaps, one will say, “as long as there is an internet connection available, I am connected!”. Literally and figuratively, one can put the world in his pocket! Blogs have also become one of the best medium of self expressions covering any topic of great interest.
